**Job Description**
The Focused Ultrasound Laboratory at the University of Utah’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences invents, develops, and validates image-guided technologies for therapeutic ultrasound to improve human health. This specific project focuses on developing innovative, non-invasive techniques for treating breast cancer with focused ultrasound mediated thermal therapies, building upon existing medical devices currently in clinical trials and multiparametric MRI protocols for assessing treatment outcomes. The objective is to further advance this by integrating medical imaging data, specifically MRI and pathology images, to understand vascular and immune system responses to focused ultrasound thermal therapies. The role leverages the lab’s expertise and preclinical/clinical datasets, aiming to develop imaging biomarkers that predict immune and vascular changes induced by thermal therapy, with potential application to other conditions like brain cancer and pain. The post-doctoral scholar will be part of a multi-disciplinary research team including faculty in radiology, pathology, and computer science, and will receive strong mentorship for career advancement within a new program integrating radiology and pathology imaging for clinical outcomes predictions.
