**Job Description**
This position is for a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, primarily focused on advancing the research of Dr. Fitting in Behavioral and Integrative Neuroscience. The role involves conducting independent research, training lab members, securing funding, writing manuscripts, and presenting research. A significant portion of the role is dedicated to project development, management, and execution of research in cannabinoid and neuroHIV fields, including behavioral pharmacology and in vivo calcium imaging studies.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Previous experience with animal research and behavioral pharmacology.
• Strong knowledge in cellular neuroscience.
• Proficiency in behavioral assays (novel object recognition, T-maze, locomotor activity).
• Expertise in Western blot analyses.
• Experience with stereotaxic injections.
• Proficiency in in vivo calcium imaging.
• Familiarity with data science tools.
• Strong statistical analyses skills.
• Recent experience working in a research laboratory that focuses on cannabinoid and HIV-related topics.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of independence.
• Ability to troubleshoot Western blot equipment.
• Ability to solve experimental problems independently and relate work to the larger laboratory context.
• Recent experience working with large datasets as evidenced by independently analyzing in vivo calcium imaging data sets.
• Ability to interact constructively with diverse individuals.
• Recent experience in training or teaching laboratory personnel.
• Knowledge of behavioral, stereotaxic, and microscope imaging equipment and software from various vendors.
