Postdoctoral Research Associate / Research Fellow in Australian Native Grain Science

The School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate or Research Fellow in Australian Native Grain Science. This part-time, fixed-term position involves contributing to groundbreaking research on the food quality of Australian Indigenous grains, funded by an ARC Discovery-Projects grant. The role requires independent work, including field sampling, glasshouse experiments, physicochemical analysis of grains, and testing flours for food applications, primarily based at the Narrabri campus with required travel to Sydney and engagement with Indigenous communities.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Knowledge and research experience in the growth and sampling of plants in field or controlled environments.
• Understanding of grain processing and grain quality.
• Exceptional skills in laboratory analysis.
• Skills in grain analysis (desirable).
• Experience in supervision of research students (desirable).
• Ability to effectively communicate with Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities and stakeholders (desirable).
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of employment.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Plant Biology
• Plant Ecology

**Experience**
Other:
• Experience in field sampling of plants and/or the growth of plants in controlled environments.
• NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to drive between Sydney and Narrabri and in the NSW countryside, including off-road.

Part-time Temporary Duration: Until 2028-10-31 Location Requirement: Required to travel between Sydney and Narrabri campuses and within NSW countryside, including off-road. Campus-based; Research facility Llara at Narrabri campus.
