August 21, 2025

**Job Description**
This PhD Research Fellow position focuses on comparative mitochondrial dynamics, combining experimental and computational work. The project aims to explore the hypothesis that mitochondria across diverse species (plants, algae, marine metazoa) face similar pressures for essential maintenance and sharing of biomolecules, by combining live-cell imaging with computational analysis to identify universal principles of mitochondrial motion. The position is part of an NFR-funded project “MitoPhyto”.

• Potential to adopt interdisciplinary approaches to biology at a top level of research.
• Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
• Good collaborative skills.
• Proficient in both written and oral English.
• Experience with live-cell confocal microscopy (advantage).
• Experience with quantitative cell biology and computational modelling, especially using R (advantage).
• Experience with applied statistics (advantage).
