**Job Description**
A two-year postdoc position is available within the Algorithmic Cheminformatics research group at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). This position is part of an exciting 6-year project, “Mathematical Modelling for Microbial Community Induced Metabolic Diseases,” supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Challenge Programme and led by Prof. Daniel Merkle. The project focuses on applying formalisms, algorithms, and computational methods from computer science to model microbial communities for health science applications. The aim is to expand these methods, create efficient algorithms and implementations, and use them to understand the functionality and stability of intestinal microbial communities.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong familiarity with algorithmics
• Strong familiarity with mathematical modelling
• Strong familiarity with graph transformation
• Strong familiarity with algorithm engineering
• Solid competences in programming
• Ease with formal thinking
• Advantageous: Applications in systems chemistry, systems biology, metabolic networks, or microbial communities
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Computer Science
• Computational Chemistry / Biochemistry
• Applied Mathematics
• Related area
**Experience**
Other:
