**Job Description**
This Postdoc position focuses on developing a novel numerical model to address challenges in coastal regions related to climate change and plastic pollution. The role is an integral part of the European Research Council-financed “SHORE” project, which aims to bridge knowledge and competence gaps by developing a model capable of accurately simulating both on and offshore transport of sediments and microplastic particles without case-specific calibration. The project will involve collaboration with other universities.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong methodological skills within coastal experimental laboratory work.
• Ability to work independently in the lab and take decisions on experimental setup and data treatment.
• Extensive knowledge on processes governing cross-shore transport.
• Capable of using experimental data to develop predictive models.
• Able to work independently and systematically.
• Desire to shape your own research project, while simultaneously working within the framework of the overall project.
• Comfortable working in groups and welcoming collaborative work.
• High proficiency in written English.
• Experience in leading coastal experimental laboratory work (asset).
• Knowledge and understanding of cross-shore sediment and particle transport processes (asset).
• Experience with Lagrangian measurement techniques for particle transport (asset).
• Programming competencies in MATLAB or Python (asset).
• Experience in using practical coastal engineering models such as MIKE, Delft3D, XBeach and SWASH (asset).
• Experience in using CFD, preferably OpenFOAM (asset).
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., Coastal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics)
