**Job Description**
This postdoctoral position at Empa’s Innovative Concrete Structures Research Group is part of an Innosuisse-funded collaborative project. The role focuses on the development and performance assessment of externally bonded CFRP reinforcements using flexible adhesives for concrete strengthening, combining experimental investigations, analytical modelling, and numerical simulations.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience with materials- and large(r)-scale component testing.
• Experience in laboratory testing and the use of conventional sensing equipment (displacement/strain sensors).
• Experience in non-contact measurement techniques (i.e. DIC) and fiber-optic sensing technologies (i.e. distributed FO sensing) (if possible).
• Experience in analytical and numerical modelling (FE) of externally bonded reinforcements and concrete.
• Experience in programming (python, MatLab) (if possible).
• Experience in scientific writing with proven track record.
• Very good English.
• German is a plus.
• Enthusiastic about learning new techniques.
• Independent and a team member.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• PhD in civil/structural engineering (or relevant fields of mechanical engineering and alike) preferably with a focus on experimental, analytical and numerical investigation of externally bonded reinforcements out of fiber reinforced polymers (or similar) on concrete (or similar quasi-brittle materials).
