**Job Description**
This Postdoctoral Research Associate position, funded by the ERC-funded SSE1K project, focuses on applying agent-based modelling to past societies. The role involves exploring human experiences and responses to climatic and environmental fluctuations in the Mediterranean during the first millennium CE, utilizing archaeological and historical datasets, with a likely focus on Central and Southern Italy. The postholder will contribute to publications, dissemination, and project administration.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Archaeology or a related discipline with a strong record of agent-based modelling work (First degree)
• Archaeology or a related subject (PhD, or close to submission)

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• Experience in conducting high quality academic research.
• Demonstrable ability to write material of a quality commensurate with publication in highly-ranked journals.
• Demonstrable ability to present research papers at national and/or international conferences and communicate complex information to specialists and within the wider academic community.
• Experience in agent-based modelling (broadly defined) design and delivery.
Other:
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with stage of career.
• A track record of presenting research at conferences, symposia, or meetings, commensurate with stage of career.
• Demonstrable ability to develop research proposals and designs in collaboration with other academics.
• Experience of overseeing students with respect to the development of their practical/research skills e.g. acting as a demonstrator; supervising student projects/practicals.
• Experience in using agent-based modelling to investigate socio-ecological systems through time.
