**Job Description**
This 4-year Ph.D. project aims to quantify the impact of “broadleafification” (increasing broadleaf tree species in conifer-dominated forests) on bat, bird, and beetle communities within managed (hemi)boreal forests. The project will evaluate if increasing broadleaf stands effectively enhances biodiversity and how these effects vary with landscape context, addressing a significant knowledge gap in boreal forest restoration. Utilizing passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) and occupancy modeling, the research will conduct a large-scale comparative study to assess multispecies impacts of restoration efforts compared to unrestored stands and target ecosystems.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Documented specialization in community ecology, bird or bat ecology, and/or restoration ecology
• Experience in design, execution, and analysis of acoustic data (desired)
• Knowledge of statistical methods and their application (merit)
• Good knowledge in GIS and R (merit)
• Proven excellence in written and spoken English (essential)
• Capable and willing to take initiative and work independently as well as in a group
