**Job Description**
A doctoral studentship is available in the forthcoming Aspirational Computing Lab at the University of Cambridge, focusing on a “deceptive by design” project that combines human-computer interaction (HCI) and critical computing. Research topics include social identity cues in LLM-based chatbots, trust in conversational agents, “dark patterns” in user interfaces, and subtle behavioral changes via vocal cues. Other critical computing topics such as diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI), accessibility, feminism, and misinformation will also be considered. The program involves initial training with Dr. Seaborn and senior researchers, leading doctoral dissertation research, participating in other projects, and engaging in research communication and outreach.
