**Job Description**
This role involves leading a project focused on ultrasound-mediated brain tumour treatment utilizing drug-loaded liposomes. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of therapeutic ultrasound, liposome drug delivery systems, and in vivo imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF)/luminescence imaging. Responsibilities include liposome synthesis and characterization, testing drug delivery in tumour mouse models, assessing antitumour effects, and developing patient-derived organoids for orthotopic injection in mice. The role also requires the assembly and maintenance of ultrasound equipment for non-invasive blood-brain barrier disruption and targeted drug release through mild hyperthermia in Glioblastoma treatment.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Good understanding of therapeutic ultrasound.
• Knowledge of Liposome drug delivery systems.
• Understanding of in vivo imaging techniques (MRI, near-infrared fluorescence/luminescence imaging).
• Suitable skills in chemistry and liposome synthesis.
• Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques (NMR, Mass Spec, Fluorimetry HPLC).
• Knowledge of preparing animal models of tumours (in vivo tumour models).
• Good knowledge of preclinical bioimaging (Bioluminescence and/or PET preclinical imaging experience).
• Experience of ultrasound treatments for cancer therapy (in vivo ultrasound for therapy).
• Knowledge of brain tumour therapy discovery and development (Desirable).
• Knowledge of focused ultrasound for brain tumour clinical trials (Desirable).
• Knowledge of brain ultrasound principles (Desirable).
• Skills of networking and Commercialisation (Desirable).
• Knowledge of product development and regulation steps (Desirable).
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• PhD in the development of ultrasound drug treatments
• MSc/MRes degree in relevant discipline (Pharmacology, Nanomedicine, Biomedical Engineering)
**Experience**
Other:
• Demonstrated knowledge of analytical chemistry, particularly HPLC, NMR, and spectroscopy of drugs and lipids.
• Demonstrated knowledge of preparing animal models of tumours.
• Demonstrated good knowledge of preclinical bioimaging.
• Demonstrated experience of ultrasound treatments for cancer therapy.
