**Job Description**
The Asian School of the Environment (ASE) and the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) are seeking a Research Fellow (post-doctoral scholar) with a focus on Phase Field modelling and High-Performance Computing (HPC) for geophysical applications. This position is part of a new project at ASE and EOS to advance the use of phase field models in earthquake rupture dynamics and fluid-driven fracture processes. The project bridges applied geophysics and computational mechanics, jointly developed with the Computational Mechanics Group at ETH Zurich, aiming to implement robust, scalable solvers for coupled deformation-fracture-fluid systems. The selected candidate will join the Computational Geophysics Lab of Asst. Prof. Luca Dal Zilio to develop advanced simulation tools to explore brittle failure and fracture-fluid interactions relevant to enhanced geothermal systems, CO2 sequestration, and earthquake physics. This role is ideal for candidates interested in computational science, HPC, and building powerful tools for complex geological processes.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong experience in numerical methods (FEM/FVM) and scientific computing
• Proficiency in Julia, C++, or Python
• Experience with HPC environments
• Interest in geophysical applications, fracture modeling, or multiphysics simulations
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Computational Science
• Geophysics
• Engineering
• Related field
