**Job Description**
The Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Louisville is seeking an Engineering Researcher for a one-year research collaboration with North American Stainless (NAS). This role involves investigating the electrochemical corrosion behavior and process-related surface defects in various stainless steels. The work includes materials characterization, electrochemical testing, thermal analysis, and modeling using modern engineering tools. The researcher will be based at the NAS facility in Ghent, KY, and will present findings to stakeholders at both NAS and UofL.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Electrochemical and thermal analysis of metallic materials
• Metallographic preparation and microscopy (SEM/EDS)
• Design of experiments and statistical modeling
• Scientific writing and professional presentation skills
• Experience with corrosion testing, surface characterization, or thermomechanical processing of metals
• Familiarity with stainless steel metallurgy and failure analysis
• Ability to work independently at an industrial site while coordinating with university researchers

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Engineering or a related field (Master’s)

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• 2 years (with Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field)
Other:
• 3 years (with PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline – Preferred)
