**Job Description**
The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science (IBT) at NTNU is seeking a PhD candidate for a full-time position in biological water treatment within recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). The project focuses on exploring stress adaptation in bioreactors and optimizing water treatment in aquaculture, involving experimental studies on biofilm reactors. The successful candidate will join the Analysis and Control of Microbial Systems group, integrated into the Microbial Biotechnology research group, to conduct fundamental research on microorganisms for production and environmental processes. This role offers opportunities for collaboration across NTNU departments and with the Norwegian aquaculture industry.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Biotechnology

• Master’s degree corresponding to a five-year Norwegian course (120 credits at master’s level)
• Strong academic background with an average grade from Master’s degree study equal to B or better (NTNU’s grading scale)
• Meet requirements for admission to the faculty’s doctoral program (PHBIOT)
• Excellent communication skills in oral and written English, preferably certified by a recognized institution (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CPE)

• Master’s degree must be obtained and documented before starting the position.
