**Job Description**
The Ph.D. project at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is seeking a motivated and creative Ph.D. student to contribute to accelerating the energy transition through the development of large-scale, low-cost battery technologies. This project (SPACER) focuses on designing new architectures for porous electrodes to enhance the power density and energy efficiency of redox flow batteries (RFB), enabling affordable and durable long-duration energy storage. The approach involves utilizing hierarchical structures and advanced manufacturing techniques (lithography-based) to create highly controlled three-dimensional electrode structures. The developed technologies will be validated in half-cells and full working batteries at industrial partners at TRL 6. This position is part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks, a joint research and training project funded by the European Union. Strong collaboration with project partners in areas such as multiscale modelling, advanced imaging, and electrochemical cell validation is expected.
