**Job Description**
This PhD position is part of a collaboration between Erasmus MC and TU Delft, aiming to enhance donor organ utilization by integrating cell therapy techniques with advanced organ perfusion strategies. The project focuses on developing and implementing a point-of-care spectroscopic sensor to assess the impact of cell therapy during organ perfusion. This involves generating experimental data, developing data processing pipelines, and training machine learning models to identify biological states of the liver. The goal is to create a closed-loop fluidic system and identify novel biomarkers for perfusion monitoring, combining both experimental and computational activities.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong affinity to work at the boundary of multiple disciplines, namely biomedical research, organ and cell biology, and machine learning for data analysis.
• Intrinsic motivation to expand your horizon.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Strong communication skills to easily connect with other experts.
• Pro-active and problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Ability to break-down and communicate complex research data.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, and highly collaborative environment.
• Experience with analyzing spectroscopic data and/or -omics data (considered a plus).
• Mammalian cell culture (considered a plus).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Technical medicine
• Bioengineering
• Biomedical science
• Immunology
