**Job Description**
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to work under Prof. Matteo Palma at Queen Mary University of London. The role involves refining strategies that utilize DNA nanotechnology to control the formation of 2D materials-based heterostructures, where 2D nanosheets will serve as transducers for electrical sensing applications. The aim is to establish a knowledge-based platform for rationally engineering 2D nanomaterial-nucleic acid hybrids for optimal device bio- and gas sensing, as well as for optoelectronic applications, building upon existing nanohybrid platforms.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Experience in materials science research
• Ideally DNA nanotechnology
• Ideally electrical sensing investigations (with 2D nanostructures)
• Established track record of success in high-quality original research
• Solid grounding in different aspects of materials science and engineering research
• Basic wet-chemistry skills
• Experience with electrical measurements
• Ideally experience with DNA nanostructures
• Ideally scanning probe microscopy
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Materials Science
• Chemistry
• Physics
• DNA Nanotechnology (or related fields)
**Experience**
Other:
• Experience in materials science research
• Experience in DNA nanotechnology and electrical sensing investigations (with 2D nanostructures) is highly desirable
• Established track record of success in high-quality original research
• Solid grounding in materials science and engineering research, including basic wet-chemistry skills, electrical measurements, and ideally DNA nanostructures and scanning probe microscopy
