**Job Description**
This postdoctoral position is within the Rye Breeding Project in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Kentucky. The project aims to develop commercially viable, short-statured, high-yielding, open-pollinated rye varieties suitable for baking, brewing, and distillation. The successful candidate will be a crucial link between farmers, end-users, and researchers for “The Initiative to Bring Rye Back to Kentucky,” promoting soil health, designing experiments, and analyzing and reporting data. They will also develop rye breeding populations, screen for agronomic fitness and end-use quality, and contribute to a nascent rye genomic selection platform, including germplasm generation and knowledge dissemination. The role involves manuscript and grant writing, meeting presentations, and mentoring students.

• Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication in English

• Expertise in molecular or genomic plant breeding methods

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Plant Breeding & Genetics
• Related field
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• Demonstrated experience in field-based plant breeding projects
Other:
• Valid US Driver’s License, and eligible to drive University of Kentucky vehicles
• Exposure to heat/cold (physical requirement)
