Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.RequirementsEnglish Language Programs (ELP), funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (DOS/ECA), sends experienced U.S. TESOL professionals to educational institutions on short- and long-term assignments in all regions of the world, both in-person and virtually, in three programs: the Fellow Program, the Specialist Program, and the Virtual Educator Program. Participants are cultural ambassadors who promote English language learning and mutual understanding through cultural exchange. The Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED) at Georgetown University (GU) is the current administrator of English Language Programs.TheOutreach Coordinatoris a key member of the Outreach team for English Language Programs (ELP). The primary objectives of the Outreach team include recruiting new applicants to the program, building ties with partner institutions and leaders in the TESOL field, involving current participants in Outreach projects, and providing engagement opportunities for alumni. These objectives are met using a variety of in-person and digital means, including regional and national conferences, special events, social media, the program website, an online participant community of practice, recruitment webinars, and newsletters. The Outreach Coordinator collaborates closely with the team’s other Coordinators, under the direction of the Outreach Manager, to ensure timely, effective, and high-quality execution of the following responsibilities, as assigned:Social Media, Digital Advertising, and CommunicationsDevelop an annual social media, digital advertising, and communications strategy and implementation plan to promote the program and support the four key areas of Outreach, including identifying and developing content of key interest for social media posts, the program website, the online ELP Community of Practice (COP), press releases about current participants and alumni, and quarterly program newsletters.Work to ensure that content is fresh and relevant, that all user contributions are appropriate and proof-read, and that participant activity is encouraged.Special Events and Special ProjectsDevelop an annual strategy and plan for special events and projects, focusing on alumni relations, institutional partnerships, and program celebrations.Organize the U.S. Department of State’s presence at the International TESOL Convention and other regional conferences and events such as the Fellow Orientation, managing logistics and scheduling, securing exhibit space and sponsorships, communicating with conference organizers and vendors on all event-related logistics and arrangements, preparing presentations, and supporting all outreach activities, alumni engagement initiatives.Travel to promote and engage with prospective applicants, program participants, and alumni at various events and conferences.Data Collection, Analytics, and ReportingAnalyze recruitment effectiveness and initiates projects to ensure the program is recognized as the premier exchange opportunity for TESOL professionals.Collect and curate data from ELP activities (recruitment, vetting, implementation, outreach) and digital systems (the application and proposal portal, the COP, the website, ELP Salesforce), identifying key success measures.Prepare analytics and reports, collaborating with the Outreach Manager and IT on website and system development and maintenance.Administrative and Other DutiesFollow and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), performing various administrative tasks (managing the COP email helpdesk, updating website pages, researching and ordering materials/swag for outreach projects).Ensure compliance with ECA branding and style guidelines, adhering to GU, CIED, and federal regulations for grant funds and budgets.Support team members during absences, assist with onboarding and training new members, and take on temporary and other duties as needed.Work InteractionsThe Outreach Coordinator is a key member of the 26-person ELP team at CIED. The team consists of five units, each unit with its own manager and a cadre of coordinators supporting the work of the respective manager. Outreach is one of the five units within ELP and Outreach Coordinators are instrumental in directly supporting the Outreach Manager in the program’s development andimplementation.They also closely collaborate with the members of the other ELP units and Finance Office staff at CIED and, externally, they interface with staff at DOS/ECA in Washington, D.C, and at the U.S. Embassies overseas.
