The Post-Doctoral Associate will advance existing research into the role of microglia in seizures and epilepsy development, focusing on neuroinflammation. The research is holistic, encompassing cellular/molecular approaches, in vivo imaging, behavior, histology, and EEG. The role encourages learning new techniques, collaborative teamwork, and developing an independent research vision and direction within the first two years, aiming for career independence. Grant writing and networking through conference presentations are strongly encouraged. An immediate need is for a new imaging project using implanted lenses for deeper brain regions.

• Prior surgery experience (preferred).
• Optical imaging experience (preferred).
• Prior experience (5+ years) with rodents, including injections, colony management, genotyping, perfusions, and surgery (preferred).
• Knowledge of microglia and neuroinflammation (preferred).
• Knowledge of epilepsy development (preferred).
• Prior experience writing a grant and independently writing manuscripts (preferred).

Required Degree(s) in:
• Neuroscience
• Molecular biology
• Biomedical engineering
• Pharmacology
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• At least 4 years (lab experience in a ‘wet lab’ setting)
• Sufficient experience in handling mice to perform mouse experiments independently
