**Job Description**
The research group ‘Biology of Archaea and Viruses’ is seeking a PhD candidate to study the infection mechanisms of archaeal viruses. This project will focus on the unique shapes, cellular processes, and ecological roles of archaeal viruses, with a particular emphasis on chronic infection of halophilic viruses. The research will combine microbiology, genetic, microscopy, and biochemical tools in a dynamic environment, offering state-of-the-art equipment and opportunities for national and international scientific collaborations.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Interest in the above indicated research fields.
• Previous experience with viruses of archaea/bacteria, electron/light microscopy or microbial genetics (a plus).
• Very strong command of English.

• Biology
• Chemistry

• Master’s degree with top grades

Annual Salary: €36,708 - €46,572 gross (based on €3,059 - €3,881 gross per month) Benefits: 8% gross annual income holiday allowance, 8.3% end-of-the-year allowance, PhD training programme, enrollment in the Graduate School of Science and Engineering.
