**Job Description**
This position is a key role in computational biology, focusing on the development of novel computational methods, including control theory, combined with practical systems modelling, simulation, and data analysis. The primary application area is platelet biology and haemostasis. The postholder will contribute to a project developing computational means for objective evaluation of purpose in biology, complemented by an experimental program on cell communication and coordination, conceptualizing thrombi as “transient tissues”. This is a multidisciplinary project for a highly motivated computational biologist.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Previous experience with computational modelling, method development, and numerical analysis applied to biology or allied fields (e.g., neuroscience, medicine).
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Publication record and experience of presenting at conferences.
• Knowledge of, or willingness to rapidly learn about, cell biology in general and platelet biology and haemostasis in particular.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Biology
• Physics
• Applied Mathematics
• Engineering
• Computer Science
Other:
• A PhD in a relevant field with a commensurate publication record.
**Experience**
Other:
• Prior experience in applying technical skills (physics, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science) to biology or allied fields.
• Prior exposure to cell biology, specifically platelet biology and haemostasis, or demonstrated interest and capacity to rapidly acquire necessary domain knowledge.
