**Job Description**
The Cornell Department of Literatures in English and the Society for the Humanities jointly seek a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will specialize in African American literature and culture, ideally with additional expertise in gender and sexuality studies or media studies. The Fellow will conduct their own research, supported by faculty mentorship, and will teach two courses per year (one lower-level and one upper-level). Additionally, the Fellow will participate in events and seminars sponsored by the Society for the Humanities.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Specialization in African American literature and culture in any historical period
• Expertise in gender and sexuality studies (desirable)
• Expertise in media studies (print and/or digital culture) (desirable)
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D. (date or expected date) in a relevant field. Ph.D. must be in hand by January 4, 2026 for applicants without degree conferral.
