**Job Description**
The Ferris Research Group at Princeton University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position, commencing as early as September 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to studies of high-temperature reaction chemistry and particulate formation, utilizing optical diagnostic methods with applications in alternative fuel design and atmospheric chemistry. Key responsibilities include assisting with the commissioning of a new shock tube facility and conducting fundamental experimental research focused on optical diagnostic design and high-temperature ammonia oxidation chemistry for green manufacturing and steel recycling.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Expertise in experimental chemical kinetics
• Expertise in laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS, fixed-wavelength absorption, scanned-direct absorption)
• Experience operating and maintaining a shock tube facility
• Kinetic modeling proficiency (Chemkin, Cantera)
• Analytical proficiency (sensitivity, rate of production)
• Spectroscopic modeling experience (preferred) (HITRAN/HITEMP)
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and data acquisition systems (e.g., vacuum systems, high-pressure gas handling, analog signals/switching, high-speed data acquisition)
• Strong publication record
• Strong communication skills
• Strong technical writing skills
• Teamwork
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to independently lead research projects
• Comfortable working with and mentoring graduate and undergraduate student researchers

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Aerospace Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Chemistry
• Related field (Ph.D)
