**Job Description**
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for recent Ph.D. recipients to further develop research skills acquired in their doctoral programs or to learn new research techniques, in preparation for an academic or research career. Postdocs are expected to play a significant role in research performance at the University and augment the role of graduate faculty in providing research instruction to graduate students. They will function with a considerable degree of independence and are expected to publish the results of their research or scholarship during the period of appointment.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong computational skills.
• Background in microbial ecology (highly desirable).
• Background in metagenomics (highly desirable).
• Background in molecular genetics (highly desirable).
• Background in evolution (highly desirable).
• Willingness to learn new skills.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate awarded within the last eight years.
Other:
• Ability to exercise scientific judgment daily.
• Demonstrated experience in assembling and analyzing short-read data (e.g., Illumina) or long-read data (e.g., Oxford Nanopore).
