**Job Description**
The postdoctoral researcher will work on a two-year strategic basic research project focused on cost-effective functional safety within sustainable process industries. This involves addressing gaps in literature and practice regarding cost-effectiveness analysis of safety instrumented systems, designing cost models, evaluating system design complexity, and validating research findings with field experts. The role also includes assisting with ongoing research, coordinating project proposals for safe and sustainable processes, attracting external funding, and supervising PhD students, culminating in the publication of scientific articles.

• Fluent in English (speak and write).
• Experience with industrial chemical processes and process safety (considered as a plus).

• Experience with funding acquisition and project coordination (considered as a plus).
• Experience with cost engineering methods, cost-benefit analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis (considered as a plus).
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• (Applied) engineering sciences (chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, safety engineering)
• Applied economics
