**Job Description**
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the OA-CONNECT project by designing, executing, and analyzing model-based workflows to study the molecular response of cartilage under mechanical load. This involves integrating advanced imaging techniques (deformation microscopy, high-field MRI, clinical MRI, PET-MRI, molecular read-outs) and applying inverse finite element modeling for multiscale mechanical characterization. The role requires integrating in vitro, in silico, and in vivo data into a coherent multiscale mechanobiological framework, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, disseminating research, and supervising students within an ERC-funded project at the intersection of biomechanics, computational modeling, and mechanobiology.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong quantitative background and an affinity for biological processes.
• Solid background in multiscale modeling, preferably including gene regulatory network modeling.
• Practical experience in one or more of: in vitro bioreactor experiments, molecular analysis techniques, or non-invasive material testing (a plus).
• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary research, preferably at the interface of engineering, biology, and/or clinical research.
• Strong scientific track record, supported by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences.
• Creative and independent research mindset, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented attitude.
• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral).
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Biomedical Sciences
• Biomedical Engineering Sciences
• Bioengineering Sciences
• A closely related field
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• 1 – 4 years (Research)
Other:
• Demonstrated experience in interdisciplinary research, preferably at the interface of engineering, biology, and/or clinical research.
• Strong scientific track record, supported by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at international conferences.
