**Job Description**
This Temporary Research Assistant position at the Child Health Institute of NJ involves conducting experiments focused on the genetic causes of congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD) associated with brain malformations and intellectual disability, specifically utilizing zebrafish animal husbandry. The role entails maintaining and analyzing zebrafish models of CMDs, performing experiments in collaboration with other lab members, and contributing to the development of zebrafish models for therapeutic screening. The Assistant will also receive training to improve experimental design and oral/written presentation skills.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to perform laboratory research.
• Ability to work with zebrafish.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Biomedical Discipline
• Psychology

Other:
• Must pass employee health clearance, TB test, and required safety and animal training.
• Compliance with Immunization Policy (Policy 100.3.1), which may include proof of Seasonal Influenza vaccination or a medical/religious exemption if employment commences during Flu Season.
