**Job Description**
The Climate Systems Engineering initiative (CSEi) at the University of Chicago invites applications for its 2026 cohort of Postdoctoral Researchers. The University is establishing a significant research cluster in Climate Systems Engineering, focusing on the science, technology, and public policy of climate engineering. The goal is to advance understanding of the benefits, risks, and governance of technologies designed to reduce the impact of greenhouse gases and to educate future leaders. Research areas include open-system carbon removal (e.g., enhanced weathering), solar geoengineering, and interventions to limit glacial ice loss. CSEi welcomes research from diverse fields including sciences, humanities, social sciences, public policy, and law. This program aims to develop the next generation of research leaders in climate systems engineering.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Any relevant field leading to a doctorate or other terminal degree
**Experience**
Experience Required:
• 0-3 years (professional experience, preferred)
Other:
• Pre-matching with a UChicago faculty mentor is strongly preferred.
