**Job Description**
The Ph.D. position focuses on urban transportation planning, specifically addressing the incorporation of considerations beyond efficiency, such as fairness and equity, in policy design. This involves developing novel optimization frameworks that integrate concepts from operations research, transport modeling, welfare economics, transport justice, and machine learning, with a key focus on the trade-off between efficiency and equity in resource allocation and taxation (e.g., road pricing). The successful candidate will be based at DTU in Copenhagen, Denmark, and will undertake a fully funded one-semester research stay at Cornell University.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++ or similar programming languages.
• Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team of researchers.
• Strong motivation to address societal impacts of transportation planning, such as inequity.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Transportation science/engineering
• Operations research
• Economics
• Applied mathematics
• Related field

**Experience**
Other:
• Must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or an equivalent academic level.
• May apply prior to obtaining master’s degree but cannot begin before receipt.
