**Job Description**
The Brussels School of Governance, Department Instituut voor Europese Studies, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a fellowship within the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant project “Competition in the Digital Era: Geopolitics and Technology in the XXI Century (CODE)”. The CODE project investigates technological competition between China, the US, and Europe in semiconductors, cloud computing, and space, integrating analytical tools from international relations, political economy, management, and innovation. It employs qualitative and quantitative methods, including network analysis and machine learning, to understand industrial and innovation policies and state-private sector relations in shaping technological and geopolitical competition.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Fluency in English (speaking and writing); proficiency in other EU official languages is an asset.
• Experience in quantitative analysis, network analysis, and familiarity with computational methods (a plus).
• Ambition and ability to produce high-quality, high-impact research.
• Ability to work constructively and effectively as part of a research team.
• Research interest in the links between technology and geopolitics.
• Ideally, an ability to use methodological tools related to network analysis.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• International Relations
• Political Science
• Economics
• Law
• Computer Science
**Experience**
Other:
• 4-10 years of research experience in Economics or Political sciences.
• Must not have worked or studied in Belgium for at least 12 months of the 3 years preceding the start date (excluding short-term stays like holidays, conferences, or preparation for postdoctoral stay).
