PhD in solid-state spins and their applications for quantum science

September 15, 2025

**Job Description**
This PhD position is within the Taminiau Lab, focusing on investigating solid-state spins and their applications for quantum science and technology. The research involves using a combination of quantum optics, magnetic resonance, and nanoscale fabrication to detect and control individual spins associated with defect centers. The core work aims to explore fundamental questions such as the emergence of decoherence in complex quantum systems, emulation of many-body physics, realization of novel improved quantum sensors, protection of quantum states for large-scale computations, and the accuracy of quantum mechanics in extended systems. The candidate will specifically work with a team to realize complex coupled spin systems in diamond and silicon carbide to investigate time crystals, a novel quantum phase of matter.
