**Job Description**
This Ph.D. position focuses on immunology, neurology, and the development of novel nutritional interventions for newborn piglets. The project, funded by Grøn Udviklings- og Demonstrations-Program (GUDP), aims to establish and test a novel colostrum-replacer to improve survival in at-risk neonatal piglets. This involves collaboration with industry partners, clinical studies under commercial farming conditions, and experimental in vivo work at Frederiksberg Campus. The research includes close clinical monitoring of compromised neonatal piglets and a series of laboratory endpoints related to neurology, immunology, physiology, and pathology, utilizing methodologies such as FACS, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, enzymology, and western blot. The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Comparative Pediatrics research group, engaging in translational research and teaching related to neonatology, pathology, pharmacology, immunology, microbiology, nutrition, and diseases in both animals and human infants, with a dual aim of reducing morbidity and mortality for neonates.
