**Job Description**
Maastricht University is seeking a Ph.D. candidate in behavioral/experimental economics and economic theory to join a project funded by an NWO Open Competition M grant. The research aims to understand and mitigate societal aversion to market transactions in critical domains such as health and the environment, by generating insights into public rejection of markets and designing institutions to increase acceptance. The role involves designing and conducting large-scale economic experiments and surveys, analyzing rich datasets, and building microeconomic models.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Eagerness to conduct independent, high-quality research
• Excellent quantitative and conceptual skills
• Knowledge of econometric methods (advantage)
• Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., Stata or R) (advantage)
• Experience with economic experiments (advantage)
• Ability to work autonomously while thriving in a team-based environment
• Good organizational skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English

Annual Salary: €36,708 - €46,572 gross Position Classification: Graded in scale P according to UFO profile PhD Benefits: 8.0% holiday allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, flexible working hours, possibility to work partly from home, monthly commuting and internet allowance, 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model, good pension scheme with ABP, company fitness, extensive sports facilities, professional development training programs.
