**Job Description**
Applications are invited for a 3-year full-time Ph.D. Research Fellowship at the Department of Biomaterials (BIOMAT), Institute of Clinical Dentistry, University of Oslo. This position is part of the European Doctoral Network “SHIELD” (Strategies for Healing Implant-associated infections and Enhancing Longevity in Devices), focusing on the debridement and management of infected dental implants. The successful candidate will contribute to deepening the understanding of implant-associated infection (IAI) mechanisms and developing innovative antibacterial biomaterials to improve patient outcomes. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration across orthopaedics, otology, and odontology, integrating basic research with preclinical and clinical studies.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong communication skills in English (written and oral); knowledge of a Scandinavian language is an advantage.
• Ability to travel to training at various European Institutions and collaborate with partners (e.g., French, Swedish).
• Capacity to develop and apply innovative research methods in implant debridement.
• Strong motivation for translational oral-health research.
• Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong practical and analytical skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Good social and collaboration skills.
• High drive for science.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Dentistry (preferred)
• Relevant field

Experience Required:
• Documented experience from dental clinical work and periodontal surgeries
Other:
• Must fulfil the admission requirements of the PhD programme at the Faculty of Dentistry, UiO.
• MSCA fellowship is only available for a person who has not lived or done their main work/study in Norway for the past year.
• English requirements for applicants from outside of EU/EEA countries and exemptions from the requirements must be met.
• Experience with microbiology is advantageous.
• Experience with statistical methods is an advantage.
