**Job Description**
The Ph.D. candidate will be part of the NWO-funded project “AI4ALL: Value-aligned AI for Public Organizations” at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The research focuses on the actual and intended use of AI in public organizations, examining the intended reasons and expected impact of AI in the public sector, and empirically measuring public values affected by AI use in public governance. The role involves investigating which public values are impacted by AI and what citizens prioritize in value trade-offs, utilizing research methods such as document analysis, stakeholder interviews, and a citizen survey among the Dutch general public.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Demonstrable interest in digital governance, understanding core topics pertaining to AI and digital governance, and a level of AI literacy (desirable)
• Demonstrable affinity with scientific research
• Experience with or interest in qualitative research methods (like interviews)
• Interest in survey research
• Strong organizational and communicative skills
• Proactive attitude
• Excellent English and Dutch language skills
• Willingness to work in a team
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Social Sciences (e.g., Public Administration, Business Ethics, Political Science, or Management Studies)
**Experience**
Other:
• Demonstrable experience and affinity with scientific research
• Experience with or interest in qualitative research methods (like interviews) and interest in survey research
