This Ph.D position is part of the fully-funded project ‘Royalist Radicals: Royalist Opposition and the Making of Parliamentary Democracy (France and Europe: 1814-1830)’, examining the ambivalent and multifaceted democratic legacy of royalist radicals in early nineteenth-century France and Europe. The successful candidate will study why and how these royalist radicals appropriated and developed parliamentary democracy instruments for their own agenda despite ideological opposition, focusing primarily on France while considering European and global contexts.
