The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UC Irvine School of Medicine anticipates occasional openings for Postdoctoral Scholars/Fellows. The Postdoc will conduct research under the general oversight of a faculty mentor, preparing for a career in academia, industry, government, or the nonprofit sector. Incumbents are expected to perform various lab tasks and work on current research projects related to ophthalmology disease, visual sciences, and advancements in ophthalmology and visual sciences technology. Appointments are temporary, with fixed end dates, providing a full-time program of advanced academic preparation and research training.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• A doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D.) or foreign equivalent is required at the time of hire.
Basic qualifications:
• Applicant can either have their PhD at the time of the application, or could be working towards the PhD.

Other:
• Total service as a postdoctoral scholar cannot exceed five years, including prior postdoctoral service at other institutions (domestic and foreign). All months of prior postdoc service will be counted towards the placement of the Postdoctoral Scholar at their initial experience level.
