**Job Description**
The Business Researcher I contributes to the planning and design of business research and creative projects, performing supporting activities such as data analysis, monitoring outcomes, and potentially lab maintenance or experiments. This role assists in both short- and long-term project planning, research proposals, and the dissemination of project findings. A key responsibility involves redeveloping, maintaining, and enhancing Alabama Economy Online, a proprietary web application, as well as developing and maintaining economic models and databanks. The researcher will conceptualize changes in state economic systems, incorporate these into models for forecasts and analysis, and interact with external contacts to communicate economic and socioeconomic insights that contribute to Alabama’s economic development. The position operates in a team environment and may include project-specific supervisory responsibilities.

• Analytical and quantitative skills
• Familiarity with economic systems and structures at state, regional, and local levels
• Knowledge of economic forecasting and modeling software
• Knowledge of web design, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics packages

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Economics
• Statistics
• Business-related field

**Experience**
Experience Required:
• Two (2) years (Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, or Business-related field)
• Some experience (Master’s degree or higher in Economics, Statistics, or Business-related field)
