**Job Description**
This collaborative doctoral project aims to accelerate the development of advanced materials by combining high-throughput experimental and AI approaches. It addresses the challenges of traditional, slow, and inefficient trial-and-error methods in materials design. The project will establish a data-driven, experimentally grounded workflow for rapid microstructure-property optimization in steels, bridging the expertise of the Institute of Advanced Simulation (IAS-9) and the Institute of Energy Materials and Devices (IMD-1) at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

**Skills & Abilities**
• In-depth practical experience in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
• Structured and analytical thinking
• Systematic, careful, independent, and reliable working method
• Strong cooperation and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent written and spoken English skills

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Data Science
• Material Science
• Mechanical Engineering
• Physics

**Experience**
Other:
• Strong machine learning or simulation background
• Ideally, some practical experience in material characterization methods

Salary
Annual Salary: Conforms to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD). For details, refer to: https://go.fzj.de/bmi.tvoed.entgelt. Additionally, 60% of a monthly salary as special payment ("Christmas bonus").
