Early Career Researcher

**Job Description**
Merton College is seeking an Early Career Researcher for a three-year fixed-term position in Mathematics or Computer Science. This role offers an opportunity for the successful applicant to develop a strong research profile and prepare for an academic career by undertaking a high-quality programme of original research, disseminating findings, and actively engaging in the academic life of the College. Limited teaching may also be required.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Research expertise in Mathematics or Computer Science
• Ability to develop a coherent research plan for the appointment duration
• Evidence of active participation in the successful dissemination of research findings

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Doctorate (recently completed or close to completion)

**Experience**
Other:
• Doctoral thesis submitted no later than 3 months before the start date (1 October 2026)
• Not eligible if doctoral thesis submitted before 1 October 2024, unless career break or exceptional circumstances
• Demonstrated research expertise through published or forthcoming books, articles in refereed journals, conference proceedings, software packages, patents, or evidence of future achievement
