**Job Description**
The Engineering Research IV is a senior research position within the Alabama Materials Institute (AMI) that requires a documented national or international reputation for expertise. This role involves significant contributions to interdisciplinary materials research, encompassing areas like metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, bio-inspired materials, and composites. The incumbent will provide leadership, direction, and support for AMI research programs, facilitate proposal development, offer advanced user training on AMI facility resources, and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Engineering / STEM or closely related research fields
Experience Required:
• Master’s degree and ten (10) years of engineering or closely related research experience
• Doctoral degree and seven (7) years of engineering or closely related research experience
Other:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (due to funding source requirements)
• At least ten years of technical experience in an academic environment, federal lab, and/or industrial setting (Preferred)
