Joint PhD Project 1: Tailoring selective anion exchange membranes for CO2 conversion in electrolysis

September 18, 2025

**Job Description**
This joint PhD project aims to overcome critical challenges in CO2 reduction and conversion via electrochemical processes by developing a new class of anion exchange membranes (AEMs). The research involves designing AEMs with high ion exchange capacity, broad pH and solvent tolerance, and tailored hydroxyl conductivity and selectivity against co-existing anions. The developed membranes will be evaluated in full membrane electrode assembly (MEA) systems to improve process performance and energy efficiency, paving the way for future generation membrane-based CO2 electrolysers for sustainable carbon reduction and conversion.
