**Job Description**
The Cornell Department of Literatures in English and the Society for the Humanities jointly seek a two-year Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in African American literature and culture in any historical period. The successful candidate will conduct their own research, supported by faculty mentorship, and teach two courses per year: one lower-level and one upper-level course. The Fellow will also actively participate in events and seminars sponsored by the Society for the Humanities. Preference is given to candidates with additional expertise in gender and sexuality studies or media studies.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Specialization in African American literature and culture in any historical period.
• Additional expertise in gender and sexuality studies or media studies (print and/or digital culture) is highly desired.
**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Ph.D. (expected or in hand by January 4, 2026)
