**Job Description**
This Ph.D. project, DECADOCS, is a fully funded research and training program under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Networks, focusing on reinterpreting the concept of decadence through the lens of food and drink from the 19th to 21st centuries. The research involves a diachronic analysis of menus and social dining, examining literary texts, manifestos, and performative events to understand gastronomy’s cultural construction and its entanglement with art and ideology. The project aims to utilize extensive archives of French menus and related artifacts to define transnational decadent food and to develop a communication strategy for the food and drink industry and the general public.

• No prior doctoral degree
• Strong background in late-nineteenth/early-twentieth century history (Literature, Politics, Gastronomy) (desirable)
• Research interest/experience in travel, foods, or cultural studies (desirable)
• Experience in archival research and working with scholarly databases (desirable)
• Experience in digital humanities methods (desirable)
