**Job Description**
This project, funded by Horizon Europe (HARMONI), aims to develop a platform for improved prevention, monitoring, and response to natural hazard-triggered Technological (NaTech) disasters, such as flooding or earthquakes affecting critical infrastructure. The role involves contributing to this large-scale international research by focusing on the monitoring and response aspects, utilizing UAVs/drones, computer vision, machine learning, change/damage detection, and multi-data integration, including satellite and sensor data. The research will specifically explore the role of reinforcement learning and link with ongoing collaborations with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR).

**Skills & Abilities**
• Prior experience in computer vision and deep/reinforcement learning.
• Very good programming skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong command of the English language.
• Ability to engage with scientists from different fields (engineering, robotics, ICT, SSH) and cultures.
• Very good analytical skills.
• Very good writing skills.
• Relevant prior publication experience (asset).
• Prior expertise in disaster risk management (asset).
• Prior expertise in UAV technology (asset).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Geo-informatics
• Computer science
• Robotics
