**Job Description**
This Ph.D. project aims to design the next generation of soft robots by exploring novel working principles based on compliant shell mechanisms and integrating embedded actuation with stimuli-responsive materials. The research focuses on developing robotic structures that combine softness with mechanical performance, enabling high precision, speed, and load-bearing capacity. These adaptable systems are intended for diverse applications such as agriculture, human-assistive technologies, minimally invasive surgery, and exploration of hazardous environments. The candidate will demonstrate soft robots with enhanced functionality, merging the compliance and safety of soft systems with the precision required for impactful real-world applications.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Strong background in one or more of the following: soft-robotics, compliant mechanisms, mechanical metamaterials, smart materials or related topics.
• Capability in computer drawing, modelling and simulating.
• Proficient in English reading and writing, with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with an interdisciplinary group.
• Highly motivated and creative.
