**Job Description**
This Ph.D. project is an integral part of an interdisciplinary research initiative focused on theoretical physics and theoretical computer science. The successful candidate will concentrate on implementing efficient simulators for continuous and discrete variable systems with noise, based on Gaussian/stabilizer decompositions, developing quantum error mitigation and correction strategies for continuous variable systems, and rigorously evaluating and defining the computational power of continuous variable systems.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Good knowledge of quantum theory, ideally quantum information theory
• Organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in interdisciplinary teams
• Good written and spoken English language skills
• Ideally good German language skills, both written and spoken
• Preferably experience in software development
