**Job Description**
This Ph.D. position focuses on shaping the future of sustainable urban mobility through immersive XR solutions. The role involves designing innovative solutions for smarter, more inclusive city logistics within the EU-funded NEXTLOGIC project. Key aspects include developing VR-based immersive environments to test urban mobility interventions, designing experiments to capture behavioral and cognitive insights, incorporating diverse citizen perspectives into mobility design using XR methods, and exploring AR applications for intuitive navigation and parking systems in redesigned urban spaces. The research aims to support cities in their transition toward net-zero transport emissions by leveraging advanced technologies for urban space reallocation, infrastructure redesign, and optimized movement of people and goods.

**Skills & Abilities**
• Solid background and interest in XR technologies.
• Skills in developing XR applications using Unity/Unreal game engine.
• Demonstrable experimental skills, including experiment design, setup, conducting, and data collection.
• Proficiency in programming tools (e.g., Python, C#).
• Proficiency in statistics.
• Open-minded personality with a curiosity-driven mindset.
• Positive attitude towards methodological and interdisciplinary research.
• Willingness to learn from different fields, including transportation, human-computer interaction, and urban planning.
• Good communication and writing skills in English.
• Experience in serious game development (advantage).
• Prior research related to XR or urban mobility (advantage).

**Qualifications**
Required Degree(s) in:
• Computer science
• Human-computer interaction
• Traffic engineering
• Related fields
Master’s degree (or equivalent)

Salary
Annual Salary: Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, increasing from Promovendus gross per month from the first to the fourth year based on a full-time contract (38 hours).
