This Ph.D. project aims to combat nicotine dependence from smoking and vaping, ultimately improving health by developing and evaluating a personalized just-in-time context-triggered digital intervention. The project, titled “Addressing craving in the city: Using system insights for personalized context-driven interventions to combat nicotine use,” will focus on Quit Sense Amsterdam, an intervention designed to support individuals in Amsterdam who wish to quit nicotine use. The research will employ a mixed-methods approach to understand how personalized, context-driven help can break nicotine habits in urban environments.
**Skills & Abilities**
• Extensive experience with advanced quantitative (e.g., ecological momentary assessment) and/or qualitative research methods (e.g., in-depth interviewing, systems mapping) and data analyses.
• Good analytical, writing, and presenting skills.
• Good project and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Proven proficiency in the English language.
• Proficiency in Dutch for intervention development and stakeholder communication.
• Ability to explore insights from various disciplines.
• Readiness to learn new skills and methods, adapting with resilience and creativity.
• Demonstrated interest in health communication research, specifically related to smoking and vaping.
• Proactive attitude, openness to feedback, and attention to detail.
